Sitiveni Rabuka will become Fiji's new prime minister after securing the support of the Social Liberal Democratic Party.

Mr Rabuka will be elected prime minister for the second time, having previously held the position from 1992 until 1999.

The election outcome ends Frank Bainimarama's nearly 16-year term, which he installed himself as prime minister after a coup in 2006.
