Aguinaldo Shrine | Aerial View

The ancestral home of Emilio Aguinaldo, the sole president of the First Philippine Republic and the official first president of the Philippines, is this shrine. The home was originally erected in 1845 using wood and thatch and was rebuilt in 1849. March 22, 1869, was Aguinaldo's birthdate here.

The independence from was declared out of the grand hall window on June 12, 1898. Ambrosio Rianzares Bautista, the author of the Declaration of Philippine Independence, read it aloud. On September 21, 1898, the Malolos Congress ratified it.

Between 1919 and 1921, President Aguinaldo significantly expanded his house, turning it into a monument to his nation and flag. During the ceremonies of Independence Day, he built an ornate "Independence balcony" that was utilized by Aguinaldo and other prominent Philippine politicians. A lot of people that come here now believe that the Independence Proclamation is actually located on the balcony. On June 12, 1963, Aguinaldo gave the government of the Philippines his house in order "to perpetuate the spirit of the Philippine Revolution of 1896 that put an end to Spanish colonization of the country".
