"The Same (Difference)" by the Nikhil Korula Acoustic Duo with Marty Rifkin

Here is the fourth performance of SIGHT & SOUND Episode 2 - The Nikhil Korula Acoustic Duo with Marty Rifkin. In this performance, the Nikhil Korula Acoustic Duo performs one of my favorite original songs I've ever written, "The Same (Difference)," which is featured on the Nikhil Korula Band album, MUSIC OF THE NEW DAY (2012). This performance has myself on acoustic guitar and lead vocals and Ray Bergstrom on lead acoustic guitar and Marty Rifkin on pedal steel guitar who I asked to play on this album, but knew he would add so much to this song for this episode. We all loved playing this song so much and each take had it's charm, but I knew if it didn't give me chills during the performance, we didn't have it yet. So on the 7th take, more than any of the other songs we recorded for this episode (usually, we did them all in 3-4 takes), I knew we had it on this one. There are so many moving parts I wanted to make sure we nailed everything and on this one, we all hit our marks. It gave me chills during the recording of it and it still gives me chills. "The Same (Difference)" is one of those songs I'm so thankful to have written. I make sure not to play it at too many shows because I never want to get tired of it, but rest assured, it will be making its way into more set lists for both acoustic and full band sets. Enjoy this performance because there really is so much soul, passion, power and nuance in everyone's playing and performance. This song and performance is truly a treasure for this episode!
