After three days, Malibu's raging forest and brush fire is still not completely under control. With 29 homes destroyed, and 18,000 acres scorched, the swank Hollywood film colony here is menaced. Lew Ayres' $50,000 home is one of those gutted. 2,000 men battle the flames along a 42-mile front.

CHICAGO SCHOOL DISASTER: One of the worst school fires in history! Scenes of the blazing Chicago Parochial School in which 87 children and 3 Nuns perished. Over 100, many severely burned lie in hospitals. A pall of grief blankets the city as firemen and police probe the disaster that shocked the nation.

MIGHTY MITE: The Marines put the "Mighty Mite", their newest lightweight but rugged, jeep-type vehicle, through its paces at Quantico, Virginia. The 1700 pound car takes the roughest terrain with the greatest of ease.

MARCH OF DIMES
Three poster children meet in New York to launch the National Foundation's expanded 1959 Program - for "Victories Beyond Polio" - a war on the "3 Faces Of Crippling" - Polio, Arthritic disease - and birth injuries.

RAILBIRDS BID BANGTAILS ADIEU: Sorrowful scenes at a New York race track, as the Northern racing season ends on a rainy, dank day. The trotters are practically awash in this farewell performance. But-there's a good turnout nonetheless
