for all his faults, dally winston certainly had his charms. that smile, those eyes, his voice?! he was just a big softie underneath the hard exterior. besides, he cleaned up nice. well – at least his apartment. you let yourself in earlier that day with the key he had tossed you (said he had to go “take care of business”, whatever that meant.) much later he returned, telling you all about his run-in with the law and some woman who told him to go to hell. as much as you wanted to listen, you were so exhausted that you ended up going straight to bed, and after washing his face and putting on his favorite jazz record, dally joined you too.
