The Mind
Mental Clarity: The first step is understanding where your team member's mind is at. What are their goals? How are they showing up?
Goal Setting: Often, people have goals, but they lack context or a deeper purpose. I help them tighten up their goals to be specific, measurable, aligned, realistic, and time-locked.
The Heart
Emotional Drive: Next, I delve into the heart—what’s driving them? Why do they want to achieve these goals?
Challenge Their Why: We dig deep to uncover their true motivations. What gets them out of bed in the morning? Why does this goal matter to them?
Future Vision: I often ask, “Imagine a year from now, and you’ve hit that goal—what does that bring into your life, and why does it matter?”
The Feet
Action & Results: Finally, the feet represent their actions and the results they achieve. This includes how they manage their time and what their calendar looks like.
Root Cause of Issues: If their results are lacking, it’s always tied back to an issue with their mind or heart. Align these, and the feet will follow.

Every time I start a coaching engagement, what I do is something I developed called the Mind, Heart, Feet Assessment. It’s very simple—it’s not rocket science—but it’s powerful.
Meaning, what’s going on here? How are they showing up? What are their specific, tangible goals? Do I understand what they’re trying to do and what they want? Often, they don’t know their own goals. They have goals, but those goals have no context or soul. My role is to help them tighten up their goals so they are specific, measurable, aligned, realistic, and time-locked. It starts there.
Once we’re clear on what’s happening with their mind, we move to the heart. I don’t know enough about the person I’m leading until I understand what’s going on here, and then I connect it to why. Why do they want that? I challenge this because often, they don’t want it badly enough until we’re able to identify and align the mind and the heart. This comes down to challenging their “why.” What gets them out of bed in the morning? Why are they pursuing this goal? What does it mean to them?
Once we’re clear on what’s happening with their mind and understand why they want it, here’s the grand truth: 100% of the time, the mind and the heart control the feet. Let’s say the feet represent results—these are the actions they take. The feet also reflect how they spend their time—what does their calendar look like? How are they spending their time? Anytime we have a feet problem, where someone’s wasting their time or their results are suffering, 100% of the time, there’s an issue with the mind or the heart. Maybe it’s one or the other, or maybe it’s not clear enough, or maybe they don’t want it badly enough.
When we get clear on the mind and the heart and align them together, the mind and the heart control the feet. Every single client that I work with—100% of the time—that’s the starting point. Where’s that mind at? It’s not rocket science; it’s simple. It’s just simple questions like, “How are you showing up today? What are you trying to accomplish? What are your specific goals?” Just simple questions to draw out what’s going on. Then I ask them, “Can you see yourself achieving it?” and we talk through that a little bit. Mind, heart—why do you want that? We challenge to get deep there, and then I get very clear on what their results are right now, and where they want those results to be.
