The Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway would their purple timetable in operation for the post Christmas period, billed as the 'Mince Pie Specials', held from 27th December 2025 - 4th January 2026.

With the unexpected early withdrawal from service for overhaul of resident Hall Class 7903 'Foremarke Hall', the railway hired in Castle Class 4079 'Pendennis Castle', from the Didcot Railway Centre to provide an extra locomotive for the busy Christmas period. This would allow for a return visit of 'Pendennis Castle', having visited the line in 2023 for the annual Cotswold Festival of Steam.

4079 would rub shoulders with fellow GWR locomotive, resident new build Grange Class 6880 'Betton Grange'.

The use of the purple timetable also meant the appearance of one of the resident diesel locomotives for the final round trip of the day. On the day of filming, this duty fell to Class 47 47376. The locomotive makes a brief appearance in this video, on the tail of the last train to Broadway, having joined the train at Toddington. The locomotive would then lead the train out of Broadway.
