One of the many ways is to cut it cleanly at the base. pick off the bottom leaves, then give it a good soak in cold water followed by a couple mins with a little white vinegar in the water to get the rest of the bugs. let excess water drip off and then store in your refrigerator. This variety is very tender so I try to keep the head intact until I need it.
