Words Festival presents a conversation with author and journalist Steve Paikin, hosted by London's longest serving mayor Anne Marie DeCicco-Best.

Steve Paikin is a Canadian journalist, author and documentary producer. He is known and recognized by many for his role as the anchor of TVO’s current affairs program The Agenda. Paikin chose to pursue journalism at a young age and was involved part-time with The Hamilton Spectator as a reporter for City Hall throughout high school. He attending the University of Toronto (Victoria) for a Bachelor of Arts degree and later completed a Masters degree in broadcasting journalism at Boston University.

After completing his masters, Paikin landed a full-time position with CBC Newsworld. At CBC, he held positions for several daily news and current affairs program. In 1992, Paikin began working for TVO where he was the host for several current affairs programs including Between the Lines, Fourth Reading, the co-creator of Diplomatic Immunity, and the co-host of Source 2 before it was cancelled and replaced with The Agenda with Steve Paikin in 2006. His success as a current affairs program host and his experience with political reporting resulted in Paikin's role as the moderator for the federal leaders debates in 2006, 2008, and 2011 and the Ontario provincial leaders debates in 2007, 2011, and 2014. In addition to his endeavors as a host and journalist, Paikin has created several documentaries including, A Main Street Man, Balkan Madness, Teachers, Tories and Turmoil, and the U.S. International Film and Video Festival “Silver Screen Award” winning Return to Warsaw Ghetto. In 2013, Steve Paikin was made an Officer of the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario.
