Snorkel and dive into the turquoise waters of El Moro Beach at Crystal Cove State Park in Laguna Beach California. Discover the underwater secrets that lie beneath these epic cliffs along the So Cal coastline. You wont believe the vibrant marine life in this underwater paradise!

This underwater adventure takes you out toward the cliffs of Laguna Beach, just before Abalone Point, inside a marine sanctuary. The sea life here is unreal — I saw hundreds of starfish, a bat ray gliding along the sand, many leopard sharks cruising the sea kelp meadows and lower reefs, bright orange garibaldi, and endless schools of fish weaving through kelp forests. Bait fish sparkle as you snorkel by like a light show. The ocean floor near Abalone Point turns into a glowing shell bed, shimmering silver under the sunlight — like swimming across a living, sparkling ocean carpet. This day the water temp was 71 degrees so no wetsuit was needed! This snorkeling video was shot with an insta 360 camera so you will experience a virtual snorkel exploration as I take you on twists and turns diving through these incredible waters.

What to Bring:
✔️ Snorkel, mask, and fins (fins are essential here)
✔️ Wetsuit or rash guard for cooler water
✔️ Towels, water, and snacks for after your session
✔️ A snorkel buoy or float for safety
✔️ Dry bag for valuables

Always good to have a buddy as well. I always like to have an exit route in the ocean, maybe a rock or the cliff edge (best when the water is calm.
*Stay safe out there.

Conditions matter here. For the safest and clearest snorkeling, look for 1–2 ft surf and less wind is best. Anything bigger and the water movement gets intense around the cliffs. When the ocean calms, though, it’s pure magic — crystal clear, full of life, and unforgettable.

This is one of those ocean days that reminds me why I love exploring the coast so much. 🌊🐠
