This Is It / Ride Like The Wind - Michael McDonald Kenny Loggins And Christopher Cross

It was an historical two night summer concert of fabulous music from three legendary artists, Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross and Kenny Loggins, playing under the stars with the distinguished Hollywood Bowl Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl Amphitheatre in Los Angeles, CA on July 13th and 14th, 2018.

The McDonald and Loggins performance of “This Is It” was impeccably beautiful. The superstar musicians wrote the song together for Kenny Loggins in 1979. The spiritual and soulful groove of this well-crafted song has made it so enduring and has flourished into one of the most popular Loggins records of his career. Today, Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins are still two of the biggest names in music, yet the chemistry between them on stage is extraordinarily gracious.

Michael McDonald also proved he can still deliver those same soaring background vocals to Christopher Cross’ Ride Like The Wind, just as he did on the original recording of the first hit single from Christopher Cross’ first album entitled, Christopher Cross, released in 1980. The high-flying guitar solo from Cross, the Michael McDonald keyboard finesse and his beguiling echo of "such a long way to go" and "ba da da da, da da, da da" nailed the act and had the sold-out bowl engaged until the very end.

When you see these three iconic legends collaborating together on one stage, it is immediately apparent that they are much more than professional music partners but also great friends, which adds all the more power to their performances.
