Mark Kennedy Nsereko reads "The Color Trials" and "In Kakuma", two of his works featured in "Japa Fire: An Anthology of Poems on African and African Diasporic Migration (CivicLeicester, 2024).[1] He gave the reading on 10 October 2024 at an online event hosted by ArtReach as part of Journeys Festival International.[2] The event marked the launch of the Africa Migration Report Poetry Anthology Series, a multi-year, multi-volume initiative that is publishing poetry collections on the theme of African migration.

ABOUT THE POET

Mark Kennedy Nsereko is a Muganda writer, and lawyer. His works are reflections on injustice. They are also glimpses into the orchestra of beautiful chaos that is his mind. These have been featured in the poetry anthology, "I Promise This Song Is Not About Politics" (East African Network of University Law Clinics, 2022), and in the magazines Brittle Paper, African Writer, Akpata Magazine, and Iskanchi Magazine.

ABOUT THE AFRICA MIGRATION REPORT POETRY ANTHOLOGY SERIES

The Africa Migration Report Poetry Anthology Series was inspired by the "Africa Migration Report: 2nd Edition" published by the African Union Commission and International Organisation for Migration in March 2024.[3]

Our call for submissions[4] is open 365 days a year because every day is Africa Day and because we would like to keep the conversation going for as long as it takes for the African migrant to be treated with dignity and respect on the continent and around the world.
