I think you're going to find the Ray Gun Mark II-V is great for crowd control.

RUSHMORE IN ALPHA OMEGA

1. Pick up a Ray Gun MK II Frame

2. Have a Pack-a-Punch'd weapon with the Kill-O-Watt alternate ammo type.

3. Head down to the Generators room, a panel on one of the three circuit boxes will emit a yellow smoke. Shoot the panel with Kill-O-Watt to remove it and collect the canister that's inside.

1. Now, one of the five telephone poles around the town will start emitting yellow sparks. Find the one that is emitting them and shoot it with Kill-O-Watt until it glows. Repeat this process with the remaining poles and an electric current will be created, allowing a generator near the Yellow House to receive additional power.

2. Place the canister on the generator to activate a soul circle. Kill 12 enemies while staying on the circle to charge it.

1. Once the canister has been charged take it to the crafting table located on the upper floor of Operations and craft the Ray Gun Mark II-V.

The yellow element, the Mark II-V, shoots an electric beam that stuns and/or kills enemies in its path. It has a low base damage, but has a good headshot multiplier, killing most in 1-2 shots. Can stun 4 enemies at once, and regenerates ammo over time when not in use, even while stowed, much like the Paralyzer.

The Mark II-V is required for the trophy/achievement Ray-gnarok, which requires the player to stun 10 zombies at once. The achievement is rather easy to get with a decent sized horde.
