This video is on the British mk6 series of helmets. The mk6 is a generation 1 composite helmet fielded by the British military from 1986 into the 2010’s. In 2006 a improved thicker version of the mk6 known as the mk6a came out to address shortcomings in the protection levels of the mk6, it also upgraded the comfort by replacing the crown part of the suspension. The mk6 and Mk6a were both designed by a British company npaerospace and are made of a ballistic nylon and resin composite material. The benefit of ballistic nylon over kevlar is it has a near unlimited shelf life where as kevlar fibers as they are exposed to uv rays and trauma with use they weaken.
