Santa Marta is the oldest city in Colombia and the second most important city on the Caribbean coast. A coastal city surrounded by mountains, due to its proximity to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sierra_.... It is a beautiful city and full of history.
Although today it is a highly visited city by Colombians, tourism in the region has not developed its full potential. I invite you to know Santa Marta (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_M..., it is a destination that you have to visit when you come to Colombia.
The treasure of Santa Marta is not in the city itself, in its surroundings are the main tourist sites of Santa Marta. For example, a place worth knowing is the Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino (http://www.museobolivariano.org.co), where the liberator Simón Bolívar died (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simón_B.... It is located 5km from Santa Marta via the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
Of course, the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta is one of the important destinations. There is also the Tayrona Park (https://www.parquetayrona.com/en/), for those who want to enjoy a day of adventure and beach.
