Day 114 (Sep 3) of thru-hiking the Pacific Crest Trail northbound in 2025. Waking up at Bear Lake, Washington, the view was breathtaking, but something was wrong. The air was thick with smoke, and a new wildfire on the trail ahead was making its presence known. With the wind carrying the fire from the north, I had to push through the haze toward Trout Lake for a recharge and to gain more information on the fire.
