In a shooting process, even minor involuntary movement of the
limbs or body of the shooter will have a detrimental effect on shooting consistency. This study aimed to apply the eye-gaze of the person in controlling a gun aiming system to minimize the involuntary movement that the shooter experience when performing a shooting process. It detects the point of gaze of a person using an infrared camera and used it to direct the point of shoot of the gun aiming mechanism to that position.

The purpose of this study is to apply the eye-gaze tracking scheme for the control of the aiming process of a gun mechanism. It aims to improve the consistency of shooting done by a shooter. The problem which had arisen is that human are incapable of maintaining their limb or held an object in a perfectly stationary position, even though they try to maintain a constant force; despite their best efforts there will be fluctuations(tremor) in the force that is generated. This tremor is bound to impact unfavorably on activities where consistency is required. Consequently, tremor size impacts on shooting consistency.

In order to test if the proposed solution is acceptable as a means to improve the consistency of shooting, the proponents used a statistical analysis tool to test whether the point of shoot of the system is precise or not. It materialized by using a Z-Test in order to check if the positions made by the bullets of the gun aiming system which came from the same population. The proponents also evaluated the response of the system during its steady state by means of computing the percentage difference between the eye gaze of the user and the cross hair of the gun mechanism. This will indicate if the proposed system is accurate enough to make the gun mechanism shoot the required target.
