SPOKANE, Wash. — No one was injured in a drive-by shooting near Camp Hope early Wednesday.

Spokane Police arrested 24-year-old James Rackliff for drive-by shooting, but more charges are possible.

Officers recovered shell casings from the scene and multiple witnesses came forward to report what they had seen. They provided information that allowed police to quickly locate the suspect vehicle on South Southeast Boulevard.

Rackliff was arrested nearby and officers ended up recovering multiple firearms from the car.

Police say preliminary information indicates Rackliff gave a woman a ride and believed she had stolen something from him. SPD says Rackliff fired a gun from his car multiple times while searching for her.

According to court documents, witnesses said they heard shots at around 3 a.m. Another witness said Rackliff went to a nearby gas station looking to buy alcohol. Someone at the gas station told officers he returned 45 minutes later asking for sort footage because he believed the woman stole his pistol.

His alleged target and “nature of the interactions prior to the shooting” are still under investigation, police say.
