SCL Webinar Series-4 on the topic “Significance and the Role of Insurance Sector in India.” has been organised by Soundarya College of Law, Bengaluru on 11th June, 2022.
The resource person of the webinar was Dr. Gayathri Bai S. Assistant Professor, B.M.S. College of Law, Bengaluru.

The programme started with the welcome address and introduction of the resource person by Vinay Ravishankar, Assistant Professor of Law, SCL. in the presence of Sri. Keerthan Kumar, CEO, Soundarya Educational Trust, Presided by Dr. Mahesha. B.P. Principal, Soundarya College of Law.
After the welcome address, the resource person spoke extensively on the idea behind the concept insurance. The different kinds of insurances i.e. Life insurance, Marine insurance, Fire insurance, Micro Insurance and Re-insurance. She discussed in detail Contract of Indemnity, Insured amount, premium, etc. She expressed her concern how as a result of false claims the insurance companies suffer losses. She further highlighted the contribution of Insurance sector in the economic growth of India. She also gave a brief outline of various legislations relating to Insurance law in India.

The resource person finally concluded her talk with a note, with respect to great opportunities for budding Advocates and law students in the Insurance sector.

The programme was concluded by delivering the presidential remarks by Dr. B.P. Mahesha, Principal, during which he has highlighted the total number of Insurance Companies in India, Attractive Opportunities, Policy support by the Government of India i.e. in September 2021, the Union Cabinet approved an investment of Rs.6000 crore (US$804.71million) entities, offering export insurance cover to facilitate additional exports worth Rs.5.6 lakh crore (US$413.13million) over the next 5 years. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. B.P. Mahesha, Principal, SCL. Principal, Staff and students of SCL actively participated in the event.
