This is going to be my "filler" type series while I wait for my 15+ min. video privilege to be restored so I can continue Flora Sky. This is not actually intended to be a walkthrough of any way... it's just for fun. :)

Here is the official website for Pokémon Sacred Gold and Storm Silver. There is a download link for the patches and documentation. You can search up on YouTube or Google how to patch the ROM. This is the recommended way to download the game.

If you want to download the pre-patched ROM (like me), just simply search it on YouTube or Google and find a download link. This is the YouTube video where I downloaded mine from:

HEART GOLD FREEZING PROBLEM (IMPORTANT!):
If you save a savestate after you visit Mr. Pokémon's house, when you load state, the screen will either be frozen or black. Even though I haven't found any fix code for it on DeSmuME, there is a way to get your progress back if you follow these directions.
1) Save in the actual game. Press the save button on the bottom screen just like if you were saving on a real DS. This will create a .dsv file with your progress.
2) Save a savestate. Go down to "Save State As..." under the File menu. Name the state whatever you want.
3) Load the savestate you just saved ("Load State From..."). If the game is frozen or black, press Ctrl+R to reset the game.
4) Return to the game menu and start again. There should be a Continue button with your progress on it because of the .dsv file you saved earlier.
