Mangalorean traditional Kane Fish Curry recipe

Ingredients:
*For the Curry:*
10-12 Kane fish
1 tsp coriander seeds
1 tbsp cumin seeds
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp peppercorns
Marble-sized tamarind
2 tbsp fresh coconut
7 garlic cloves
1 large onion
7 red chillies
Salt to taste
Water (for grinding)

*For Seasoning:*
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 medium onion (sliced)

#### Instructions:

1. *Prepare the Masala:*
In a blender, combine coriander seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, peppercorns, tamarind, fresh coconut, garlic, onion, and red chillies.
Add water as needed and grind to a smooth paste.

2. *Cook the Curry:*
In a kadai, add the ground masala and enough water to make a gravy.
Season with salt and mix well.
Allow the curry to boil on medium flame.

3. *Add the Fish:*
Once boiling, lower the flame and gently add the Kane fish one by one.
Let it simmer on low heat for about 2-3 minutes, or until the fish is fully cooked.

4. *Finish Cooking:*
Turn off the flame, cover the pan, and let it sit for about 30 minutes for the flavors to meld.

5. *Prepare the Seasoning:*
In a separate pan, heat coconut oil and add the sliced onion.
Fry until golden brown.

6. *Serve:*
Garnish the curry with the fried onions.
Serve hot with rice or neer dosa.
