Chess Openings: Learn to Play the Bogo-Indian Defense!

Many chess openings have been created in response to d4 including the King's Indian Defense, Slav Defense, Budapest Gambit, Dutch Defense, Old Benoni Defense, Benko Gambit, Modern Defense, Horwitz Defense, and many other strong responses to d4. However, today we review the Bogo-Indian Defense, which is very similar to the Nimzo-Indian Defense, except for the fact that white plays Nf3 instead of Nc3. The Bogo-Indian Defense is one of the strongest replies to d4 and has been played by top chess grandmasters including Garry Kasparov, Magnus Carlsen, Viswanathan Anand, and Anatoly Karpov. The Bogo-Indian Defense has been so strongly involved in grandmaster's repertoire's because black has no obvious weakness, plays with good chess strategy, and looks to fight for the win against white.
