New Pokémon Snap PC came to Nintendo Switch 22 years after the original Nintendo 64 looking to conquer a new generation of Pokemaniacs with its curious mix of arcade and nature documentary. Ready for a new safari?

For 20 years, it looked like Pokémon Snap PC Download would stay a one-hit wonder, but that's changed with the arrival of New Pokémon Snap for Nintendo Switch, this time developed by Bandai Namco, albeit faithfully following the scheme devised by HAL Laboratory. Was the wait worth it? We found out in the analysis of New Pokémon Snap for Nintendo Switch.

Those who remember the N64 classic will feel right at home with New Pokémon Snap, but for those who never played it, this style of play is shocking to say the least. If it was twenty years ago, now even more so. Perhaps someone is wondering that if the goal is to take photos of Pokémon in their natural habitat, why not allow us to move freely through an open 3D environment?

Tempting as the idea may be, it would no longer be Pokémon Snap. And despite its documentary pretensions, this is an eminently arcade type of game, and although there is a Fotodex to complete and a (discreet) narrative thread, New Pokémon Snap is consumed in short games: 3 or 4 minute tours in which to get the highest possible score depending on how many objectives we find and the quality of the photos. Same as recreational ones like Virtua Cop or The House of the Dead, but without violence (or animal exploitation).

Those who already knew the classic N64 should know that New Pokémon Snap is a sequel very continuous in the playable (without that being a defect) and very expanded, with many more Pokémon of all generations, many challenges to complete and a social component that today seemed essential for a game like this. As in Animal Crossing New Horizons, being able to share your creations on social media adds an extra layer of enjoyment, creativity and even competitiveness that is now in the hands of the community.

New Pokémon Snap download for PC is the same as in N64, but with more Pokémon, dozens of challenges and a social component of the "photo mode" that multiplies its potential. For the kind of game it is, it inevitably ends up getting repetitive, but there's a lot to discover before that happens, and it's a beautiful and relaxing retreat if you're looking for escapism.
