How to make Stir Fried Clam Meat | Clam Sukka | Clams Sukka Recipe | Tisrayanche Suke Recipe

Clams Dry or Clams Sukka Recipe is a delicious shellfish dish. In India, in different states, clams are called Tisrya, Tisre, Tisryo or Khube or Kakka erachi or Marvai.
Clams Dry or Sukka is a traditional and very popular way of cooking clams. Here Clams are cooked in its shell in pressure cooker for easy opening of the shell. They are then cooked with a tempering of onion, tomato, spice powders and garnished with grated coconut. Cooking clams in its shell imparts a lot of flavor to the dish and also increases the nutrient value of the dish. Here we use both the sides of the shell.

Clams are delicious as an appetizer or as a side dish. For us, Clams Sukka is best paired with rice, some vegetables and a simple dal.

So here's the recipe from my kitchen to yours

Ingredients :
25-30 Clams (washed 4 to 5 times & drained well)
3/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
Water as required in the Pressure Cooker
2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 tbsp Ghee (Clarified Butter)
½ tsp Mustard Seeds (Rai)
2 medium sized Onion (sliced)
5 to 6 Crushed Garlic (with skin)
1 sprig Curry Leaves
½ tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
1 tbsp Coriander Powder
½ tsp Pepper Powder
¼ tsp Fenugreek Powder (Methi Powder)
½ tsp Garam Masala Powder
1 tsp Fennel Seeds (coarsely ground)
½ tsp Salt (or as per taste)
2 medium sized Tomatoes (chopped)
100 ml Water
1 tbsp Lemon Juice
50 gms Fresh Coconut (grated)

Note : tsp is teaspoon
tbsp is tablespoon

Important Note :
1. Please wash the clams several times to remove all sand, salt water and other impurities.

2. Remember that clams tend to be on the saltier side so be careful as you add salt.

3. Clams are delicious, but eating them can seem to be a tough task, It's actually easy, just suck the clam right off the shell. Lift the clam up to your mouth and gently suck. Dispose off the empty shells in another bowl.
