The Cab Upgrade - One year progress update on our ambulance conversion.

A year ago, we bought a 4x4 Ford F450 super duty decommissioned ambulance. We identified 5 areas needed upgrades: the cab, the outside, the engine, off-road capabilities and the inside. We have done 4 out of these 5 upgrades. Here we share the Cab upgrade of our ambulander.

Stripping Everything Down: Cleaning and patching holes: After stripping evertyhing, we cleaned, scrubbed, sanded, and patched up any holes. We also cleaned up the wiring.
Kilmat Soundproofing: To reduce noise from the diesel engine and the road, we installed Kilmat soundproofing material.
Insulation: We also added insulation to keep the cab cozy during frosty adventures, and cool during hot summers.
Pass-Through Door: The pass through was previously open so we installed a door connecting the cab to the back, to cut down on noise from the rubber accordion and keep the cold out.
Deep-Cleaned Seats: Our seats got some much needed TLC. We scrubbed away years of grime!
The finishing touch: We used some waterproof carpet for a clean finish.
Driving upgrades: A rearview mirror with a camera was added, as well as a and navigation screen. Both also help when reversing and parking our Ambulander!

The cab is now quieter, comfier, and ready for the open road.
