This Ultimate Collector Series model is the largest LEGO Star Wars set of all time, taking the title previously held by 75192 Millennium Falcon.

Darth Vader has clearly got the Imperial construction crews working overtime, because LEGO Star Wars 75419 Death Star is arriving soon as part of the Ultimate Collector Series to dominate the galaxy – the largest rendition of the terrifying space station ever produced.

The new set’s relatively compact foundation allows it to be displayed on a shelf or cabinet, with details based on both Star Wars: A New Hope and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi spread across six interior floors. Unlike previous spherical playsets, this is almost like a slice from the centre of the Death Star, with a dollhouse style layout that allows fans to access different areas.

Fans will be able to recreate key scenes from the movies. The set includes the trash compactor that errant flyboys to jump into, as well as Princess Leia’s holding cell with a connecting chute. Elsewhere, Obi Wan Kenobi can creep through the hallways to deactivate the tractor beam and there’s the hangar control room that Han Solo and Luke Skywalker infiltrated disguised as Stormtroopers. Then Imperial command can debate strategy in their minimalist conference room – just make sure not to insult Darth Vader.

As for scenes inspired by Return of the Jedi, there is the hangar bay with the Imperial Shuttle that delivers Emperor Palpatine to a very nervous Moff Jerjerrod. In the throne room, Luke Skywalker can clash with his father in the climactic duel that will change the fate of the galaxy forever. Each room and hallway features the distinctive Imperial designs of black and grey, as well as the iconic Death Star lighting panels.

75419 Death Star includes 38 minifigures with accessories to recreate these memorable moments. The character list features Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, Obi Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader and Grand Moff Tarkin. Then there are new Imperial personnel including Death Star Gunner, Colonel Wulff Yularen, Orson Krennic, Galen Erso and the Hot Tub Stormtrooper. The latter is inspired by a memorable moment LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy video game and you can find the character when escaping the Tantive IV in the opening level of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

If you buy the set on preorder or during its initial release window at LEGO.com, you will get 40771 TIE Fighter with Imperial Hangar Rack for free. The small set connects to 75419 Death Star and builds a chibi TIE Fighter, with a TIE Pilot to fly it and two Stormtroopers to maintain it.

75419 Death Star takes the lessons of all these predecessors to make a model that looks to be primarily for display, while still providing elements of playability. A working feature in the cell block lets fans shoot a minifigure down into the trash compactor, which can try to crush the Rebel heroes with the turn of a dial. Luke Skywalker can dramatically swing across the hallway gap to protect Leia from stormtroopers and fans can fire when ready from the super laser control room.
