📖 Synopsis

Set in the fictional princely state of Morpur, The Royals follows the story of Prince Aviraaj “Fizzy” Singh, a New York-based royal playboy who unexpectedly ascends to the throne after his father's demise. His path crosses with Sophia Kanmani Shekhar, a driven CEO of a successful hospitality startup. Together, they embark on a venture to transform a dilapidated palace into a luxury bed-and-breakfast, leading to romantic entanglements and dramatic family revelations—including Fizzy’s unexpected royal lineage.

🎵 Soundtrack

The series features a recreated version of the classic song "Tu Tu Hai Wahi" from the 1982 film Yeh Vaada Raha, originally sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle. A promotional event for the song, scheduled to take place in Juhu on May 8, 2025, was canceled by Netflix in response to the 2025 India-Pakistan strikes.

The Royals received mixed reviews upon release. While its production design and lead performances were praised, the writing and narrative depth drew criticism for lacking originality and emotional resonance.

Additionally, Maharani Radhikaraje Gaekwad of Baroda criticized the series for presenting a misleading narrative that overlooks the genuine history and struggles of India's royal families.
