Footage from Iranian state TV showed the moment multiple strikes interrupted its live broadcast on Monday.

An hour before the strike, Israel had issued a warning to evacuate northern Tehran, where the broadcaster is located.

Iran's state TV resumed later on Monday, with anchor Sahar Emami saying the strikes were an "opposition to freedom of expression".

Israel launched its air attack late last week with a surprise attack that killed nearly the entire top echelon of Iran's military commanders and its leading nuclear scientists.

It has said it aims to destroy Iran's contested nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

Iran returned fire with a retaliation attack against Israel, hitting buildings, including residential properties in Tel Aviv and Haifa.
