Santa Monica Maintenance Crew Repair Damage After Car Plows Into Palisades Park

On Tuesday, October 1, 2023, Santa Monica park maintenance employees were on-site cleaning up after a vehicle crashed through a section of the fence at Palisades Park. Early this morning, a car traveling down Wilshire Boulevard lost control and plowed into the park’s fence, coming to a precarious stop with part of the vehicle dangling over the cliff.

There are no confirmed reports of injuries, and authorities are investigating whether the driver was under the influence at the time of the crash.

The maintenance crew responded quickly, installing a temporary chain-link fence to secure the area and reinforce the damaged section. In addition to repairing the fence, they also replanted vegetation that had been torn out during the impact, working to restore the park’s landscape.
