**Special Note:** This guide is for the normal (not easy) build mode found in the hangar above the easy-build hall. You will need to buy all of the components that make up the ship or collect the ore for them before you can use the ships you design there. That being said, this video is about the concepts of design, not the details of building a ship. You may be able to apply some of these to easy build mode.


As Blackhawk and I talked on my party stage ship, it became clear that there was a need for a ship that could demonstrate all the major functions of a Starbase ship in an easy to understand way. Thus, I present the tutorial ship. It should be noted that this is just an overview, not a deep dive into all of the details of each step in the process. For more in-depth guides, see my "Bytesized" playlist.

This video is the companion to the ship. I think you'll learn more from downloading the ship and looking around at it in the SSC. Remember to press 'u' on things to see what is going on with their fields. Try to find matching pairs (eg. button named same thing as hinge).
