Oleksiy Yatsiuk, ESG expert at the Green Transition Office, talks about implementing European ESG standards in Ukraine during the International Conference on Responsible Business Conduct.

In his presentation the expert explains in detail how many Ukrainian companies fall under CSRD requirements and how the Omnibus I changes will affect the number of companies that have to report. Oleksiy analyzes the current level of Ukrainian business readiness for ESG reporting and outlines the main challenges companies face when implementing the standards.

Research shows that 29% of business representatives are hearing about the concept of sustainable development for the first time. At the same time 87% of companies support implementing ESG standards but only 5% are ready to report right now. Among key problems 77% of companies experience a shortage of qualified specialists.

The expert presents a comprehensive roadmap covering seven areas of European standards adaptation and specific synchronization stages. In 2024 the Sustainability Reporting Strategy was adopted. In 2025 legislative amendments were submitted to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration. In 2026 Ukraine plans to fully synchronize its criteria and reporting standards with European Union rules.
