Welcome to another episode of ‪@bigjonshawaiianadventures‬, on today's episode we're going to spend a day at Ko Olina, located on the West side of #oahu, #hawaii, roughly a 45 minutes drive from Waikiki, this spectacular hidden peace of paradise feels much more secluded then #waikiki, far away from the hustle and bustle of #honolulu with all the elements of a perfect tropical paradise!

Home to four major resorts (Aulani Disney Resort, Four Seasons Resort, Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club and Ko Olina Beach Villas Resort), and four major lagoons with one additional lagoon, a small hidden one that few visitors know about named Paradise Cove right after passing the entrance to Ko Olina, both #aulani and #fourseasonshotel are located at lagoon one with Aulani being the only #disney resort in #hawaii, and the Beach Villas located at lagoon two and #marriott located at lagoon three, all lagoons are open to the public and have public parking lots but small and often not vacant, if you find that the parking lots are full just remember that lagoon four has the biggest public parking lot so you have a greater chance of finding a parking stall there, there is also paid parking at Ko Olina Marina next to lagoon four as well as Ko Olina Center.

All lagoons have a public shoreline access point with public restrooms, showers and changing areas available at the entrance, these lagoons are shallow and protected by man-made barriers and remain calm all through out the year which is great for kids however there are no lifeguards present at these lagoons.

Nicknamed the "Sunny Side" the West Coast of O'ahu is the dry side of the island, for this reason this part of the island usually gets nice sunny weather even when the rest of the island gets rain.

This part of the island also gets some of the best sunsets on #oahu, #hawaii, but i would avoid the "Pau Hana" (evening rush hour) if you are planning to get on H1 West Highway.

There is also a shopping center called Ko Olina Center located at the heart of Ko Olina with boutique shops, restaurants and a convenience mart within walking distance to all four major resorts, for golf enthusiasts there is the Ko Olina Golf Club located right next door home to famous Roy's for a fine dining experience!

Don't forget to check out the Hawaiian Railway Society, the only historic railroad museum in Hawai'i where a locomotive departs on a short but fun journey on the only historic railroad in Hawai'i, great for kids!
