As an artist I often feel pressure to create artwork that has depth and a conceptual edge. But this can be a little draining, so sometimes I'll do smaller, more imaginative pieces that are whimsical and lean into the day-dreaming side of my imagination. Romantic artist and poet William Blake has always been a touchstone when it comes to this--he's an amazing example of how to be true to your own creative vision. So, painting this little landscape was also a great way to see how far my imagination can take something, turning an ordinary scene into something a little more extraordinary.
