The 2012 Bupa Great North Run produced the two greatest ever finishes in
the long history of the event. Ethiopia's Tirunesh Dibaba fought off the
challenge of World Marathon Champion Edna Kiplagat & Olympic Marathon
Champion Tiki Gelana to win inside the last 100m, whilst the Men's race
was even closer with a sprint to the line resulting in victory for
Wilson Kipsang over fellow Kenyan Micah Kogo, with the winning margin
less than a second.
