Driver's View... Pelion Mountain Train Ano Lechonia - Milies [Greece] - [395]

Pelion Heritage Railway is a 600 mm (1 ft 11+5⁄8 in) narrow gauge railway line of the old Thessaly Railways in Greece, connecting the city of Volos with the town of Mileai (Milies) on mountain Pelion. It is widely known as Pelion Little Train (or trainaki / τραινάκι) a fine example of a typical Decauville public railway.
The line extended from Volos station through Volos city centre (as a tramway) to Agria (1892), reaching Ano Lechonia in 1896 (12 km) and Mileai / Milies (16km) in 1903 totalling 28 km of route length. The locals used to called it "Smokey" (mountzouris / μουτζούρης) or "Jason" the Fearsome" of the Argonauts.
Currently, Trainose runs one train every Saturday and Sunday in both directions. According to the current timetable, train 3800 departs Ano Lechnonia at 10 :00 and arrives at Milies at 11 :35. Return train 3801 departs Milies at 15 :00 and arrives at Ano Lechnonia at 16 :30.
