Tarar further stated that one of the IED attacks by the Gul Bahadur group struck a civilian vehicle in North Waziristan, leading to the martyrdom of one soldier and injuries to several civilians. However, Pakistan’s security forces immediately retaliated with full force, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to protecting the country’s sovereignty and the lives of its citizens.

He strongly rejected false propaganda circulating on social media and other platforms suggesting civilian casualties in the operation. The minister emphasized that such baseless claims were designed to create sympathy for terrorist elements operating from Afghanistan. He made it clear that Pakistan’s counterterrorism actions were focused solely on militants and not on innocent civilians.

Highlighting the broader implications of these attacks, Attaullah Tarar reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance that terrorism emanating from Afghan territory — particularly under the influence of Indian support — remains a complex and serious challenge. For this to succeed, he stressed, the Afghan authorities must take concrete steps to control non-state actors and prevent their soil from being used against Pakistan.
