In this video, I interview David Mcllroy about his success with Notes, the internal social media network of Substack. He's a founder, indie author and Substack writer.
David used to put a lot of effort into growing on Twitter/X where he went from zero to 20,000 followers. He was tired of all changes and started posting on Notes.
This way, he gained over 1,400 subscribers between November 2023 and January 2024.
He tells us his growth story from beginner to hero with 5,000 subscribers in a very short period of time. No growth hacking involved. Just authentic, genuine connections, relationship building, networking via Notes as in the good old blogging days.

David gives newbies and advanced writers tips and tricks on what Notes is, how to use it and how to not use it.
