For the final product of my senior project, I decided to create a documentary on coastal erosion in order to educate the public on this topic. With the climate changing globally, and more specifically in Rhode Island, this environmental factor has been affecting the state more rapidly as the years pass. The purpose of this film is to educate people about coastal erosion by showing images of the effects of coastal erosion, explaining what coastal erosion is, and showing interviews with three experts on this topic. The first interview is with Julie Pettis, a property owner in Matunuck, Rhode Island who has personally been affected by coastal erosion. The second interview is with Laura Dwyer, the Public Educator and Information Coordinator for the Coastal Resources Management Council in Rhode Island. The council that she is a part of is important in discuss in this documentary because they allocate resources to help towns dealing with environmental factors, such as coastal erosion. The third interview is with David Prescott, the South County Coastkeeper from Save The Bay's office in Westerly. Save The Bay is a non-profit organization which helps educate the public on topics, such as coastal erosion, in order to teach them how important it is to protect the bay.
