उत्तराखंड में कई गाँव अपनी विशेषताओं के लिए प्रसिद्ध है।रूद्रप्रयाग जिले का राँसी गॉंव भी अपनी खास पहचान के लिए ना सिर्फ प्रदेश बल्कि देश विदेश में जाना जाता है।उखीमठ तहसील से 25 किमी की दूरी पर मदमहेश्वर घाटी में स्थित इस गॉंव में उच्च हिमालय ट्रेकिंग के कुशल पोर्टर और गाइड मिलते है और इस गॉंव को ट्रैकर्स विलेज कहा जाता है।

राँसी गाँव समुद्रतल से करीब 2200 मी की ऊंचाई पर बसा हुआ है।इस गाँव में करीब 180 परिवार रहते है।गाँव से कई ट्रैक है जिनमे मदमहेश्वर-नन्दीकुंड,पनपतिया कोल,मंदाणी बुग्याल ,संक्यारा बुग्याल-कालिशिला और बिसुदी ताल प्रमुख है।यह घाटी बंगाली ट्रैकर्स को सबसे ज्यादा पसंद है।गाँव में सबसे पहले 1954 में बंगाली ट्रेकर और साहित्यकार उमा प्रसाद मुखोपाध्याय ने पनपतिया कोल ट्रेक की खोज की और उसे पूरी दुनिया के सामने लेकर आये।इस ट्रैक में स्थानीय लोगों ने ही गाइड और पोर्टर में उनका साथ दिया।

राँसी गाँव का नाम सिद्धपीठ माँ राकेश्वरी देवी के नाम पर भी पड़ा।यह गाँव अपने धार्मिक गतिविधियों के लिए भी जाना जाता है।सावन में 2 माह तक रात्रि में जागर गाए जाते है जिसमे शिव पुराण,महाभारत,रामायण के कई प्रसंग होते है।मान्यता है कि राकेश्वरी मंदिर में चंद्रमा ने क्षय रोग के निवारण के लिए सालो तक तपस्या की।इसीलिए देवी को राकेश यानी चंद्रा की देवी भी कहा गया है।इस दिव्य स्थान पर भगवान राम ने भी शक्ति की पूजा अर्चना की।
