Malawi: Masked Men Disrupt Anti-govt Protests With Sticks, Knives & Axes| Firstpost Africa

Several people gathered in Malawi's capital Lilongwe on Monday to demonstrate against the government’s handling of the fuel crisis. The protesters demanded the resignation of Energy Minister Ibrahim Matola. However, as soon as the protests began, they were charged by dozens of men disguised in masks and hoodies. These masked men were armed with machetes, sticks, and iron bars. Some witnesses said people were also chased with axes. Many demonstrators fled the scene. Some of the demonstrators were able to re-assemble to confront the masked men only to be later dispersed by the police. Watch the video for more details.
