Stephen Bagley, MD, MSCE, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, suggests that integrating cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) collection into therapeutic clinical trials for glioblastoma and other brain cancers could lead to the development of biomarkers and shed light on its usefulness for guiding patient care. Prospective, systematically designed studies that collect tumor tissue, blood, and CSF at multiple time points will be needed to further evaluate the concordance, as well as sensitivity and specificity of these compartments in detecting mutations. This interview was recorded via an online conference call with The Video Journal of Oncology (VJOncology).
