Folktales of India - Tales from Karnataka - The Grand General

Описание к видео Folktales of India - Tales from Karnataka - The Grand General

A true story about a kid and his grandfather, and his grandfather!
Inspired from true events that took place during the start of the Indian revolution. This ‘slice-of-life’ story is about a kid and his grandfather who was a British army general! Narrated by ‘the kid’ himself, the folktale talks about his rebellious antics, his scary grandfather, and a funny situation that unfolded in their lives!
This folktale is inspired by the illustration style of Togalu gombeyaata, a folk art of Karnataka, a form of shadow puppetry made with colored Goat-skin leather puppets still practiced to this day in the villages of Karnataka with a visually unique style similar to Tholu Bommalaata, a folk art from Andhra Pradesh. Their similarities are accounted for by the fact that the whole of the south of India was once under the same flag of the Vijaynagara empire.
