WHAT HAPPENED TO BAPE?

Bape is one of the most iconic streetwear brands of the early 2000s, initially influencing the United States and then the world. Founded by Nigo, the brand became popular among rappers like Kanye West and Pharrell Williams. Bape was also involved in the famous feud between Pusha T and Drake. However, the brand faced financial difficulties and was sold in 2010.
Inspired by American culture and influenced by Hiroshi Fujihara, Nigo founded Bape after various collaborations and fashion projects. Bape stood out for its exclusivity and unique designs, such as shirts with monkey heads and Bapesta sneakers. Despite its initial success, poor financial decisions led to the company's bankruptcy. Recently, Nike sued Bape for copying its sneaker designs, despite a prior agreement.
Today, Bape remains relevant but is not as innovative as it once was. After leaving Bape, Nigo founded the brand Human Made and became the creative director for several other renowned brands.
