Sorry, was on no sleep all night with this video was made. This is important. At 25:40 of this video I made a very BIG mistake. It is normal at sunrise for your signals to propagate well to the south as well as the west. They do not propagate as well to the east and north. At sunset, the signal will propagate well to the south and east. There’s a big show coming to the channel this Wednesday at 1800 UTC. This video is excellent at explaining Grayline, reading Propagation forecasts and how the sun interacts with the earth and its effects on our HF transmissions. Please don’t miss it.

Remember, sunrise “South and west.” Sunset, “south and east.“ what this video showed proves this principal.

Ham Radio Live Show 190. How our Omni directional antennas can become Directional… Grayline, coupled with poor conditions can provide you an excellent signal in one direction with virtually no signal the other. Grayline at sunrise typically will go south word… Gray line at sunset will typically head south east.

This show is a great example of how gray line effects our radio waves... at 1100 watts, not being able to be heard eastward at all, but booming to the south on the DX Commander Classic antenna.

Tuner (To protect Amplifier from excessive SWR from coming back down to coax and possibly damaging the amplifier) MFJ 998
