Fifteen years ago this week, Massachusetts became the first state to legalize same-sex marriage. It would be another five years before another state, Connecticut, followed suit – and more than 10 years before change came on the national scale with the Supreme Court’s decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, which made marriage equality the law of the land. Ahead of the anniversary, Jim Braude was joined by former Chief Justice Margaret Marshall, who wrote the decision legalizing same-sex marriage in Massachusetts.
