A Day in My Life with Mitochondrial Disease. Tracheostomy Tube, Ventilator, TPN. Life with a Vent

I have Mitochondrial Disease--a disease which affects how energy in my body is produced. Nearly every organ system in my body is affected with an inability to produce enough energy to function properly. My pancreas no longer works well, and I need IV nutrition called TPN to sustain my nutritional needs. My respiratory muscles are extremely weak, and I have a tracheostomy tube and ventilator to help me breathe. I take many vitamins, herbs and supplements to provide essential elements my body lacks or cannot process properly. Fatigue and exhaustion plague my life, but I do my best to get through each day.
