Diddy Kong Racing - Accelerator Trick

This is the showing of the accelerator trick in "Diddy Kong Racing" for the Nintendo 64.

To do this, simply tap the A button repeatedly to go faster. If you look at the speedometer, you will notice that you are going faster than you normally would be.

TIP: When tapping the A button repeatedly, don't tap it very fast. That'll tire out your right hand quickly. Instead, tap it slowly. This will reduce the risk of tiring out your right hand quickly.

NOTE: While this trick is only meant for the car, it can be done with the hovercraft and plane as well, though it is unlikely, especially with the plane, unless you're super good at it.

During the Time Trial in Ancient Lake, I purposely did not let go of the accelerator before hitting a Zipper. I wanted to show everyone the normal speed and the advanced speed this way.

You should definitely notice Pipsy's top speed against Tricky's. I even do the accelerator trick in the boss race to prove a point.

Even with this trick, the green boost trick is still important. After letting go of the accelerator before either hitting a Zipper or using a blue balloon power up, wait UNTIL the multicolored smoke disappears from the green boost, and THEN accelerate again. The bananas are also important, as they increase the character's top speed. Try to collect around 6 to 10 bananas by the end of the 1st lap.
