Check out part 3 of my Xclusive Playthrough series featuring the game It Takes Two! This game released on the Xbox One and Xbox Series families of consoles on March 26th, 2021. It was developed by Hazelight Studios and published by Electronic Arts.

In this video, Cody & May reach another part of the shed & realize that they are still a bit too far from Rose.

It Takes Two is a heartwarming, puzzle-platforming adventure game that revolves around a husband (Cody) and wife (May) that are going through some marital problems to the extent that they are thinking about getting a divorce. When their daughter (Rose) sees her parents fighting one afternoon, she becomes very disheartened, but she vows to do whatever it takes to repair their relationship. She takes the makeshift dolls that she made of her mom and dad and heads to the shed where she wishes they could become friends again while tearing up over the thought of her parents separating. The scene then transitions to both of the dolls waking up and seemingly being taken over by Cody and May. They are greeted by an enchanted book (Dr. Hakim's Book of Love) that tells them they are not dreaming and they cannot go back to their own bodies until they fix their relationship. At first, they try to ignore Dr. Hakim and his advice, but eventually they realize that they are at a loss with regards to figuring out a way to return to normal and so they decide to go along with Dr. Hakim's plan. What follows next is an amazing journey through a series of whimsical and fantastical levels that are just as delightful as they are imaginative.

The gameplay in this game is fairly easy to pick up and play, but it is also challenging and very intuitive. The screen is always split into two so that both players always see each other's location and are always aware of each other's actions. This is extremely important as this game is all about teamwork and CO-LLA-BO-RATION. Both players have to be completely in harmony with each other each step of the way as most obstacles and puzzles within the game can only be completed together. The controls are also fairly easy to memorize as each player can use the A button to jump (and double jump), the X button to dash, the B button to crouch (while on the ground) or to ground pound (after a jump) and the Y button to interact with objects. The triggers are also used, however, their use varies based on the level that you're playing through as each level has it's own theme while also giving each character a tool that will help them throughout the level (such as a hammer for May and nails for Cody). The gameplay is very solid, but the best part about this game has to be the level design, the visuals and the story though.

Finally, with regards to the achievements in this game: It Takes Two includes a total of 20 achievements for a total of 1000 GS. Only one (1) of the 20 achievements is unlocked as part of the story (for completing the game) while the other 19 are obtained by completing miscellaneous actions (which means they are technically missable). Foe example, in one level you can ride a toy car through a hoop or a train that you can ride while taking in the scenery. The best part is that the game does include a chapter-select feature which means that you don't have to worry about missing any of the achievements during your first playthrough. The achievements are not really difficult to obtain once you know what to do, however, the game is fairly long. That being said, this is a fairly easy completion that should take you around 10 to 14 hours.
