An escape from Tokyo within Tokyo - Todoroki Valley Park (4K)

Todoroki Valley Park is a 3 minute walk from Todoroki Station on the Tokyu Oimachi Line. If you go down the stairs from the Golf Bridge near Todoroki Station you’ll find yourself in a ravine that feels like you’re no longer in Tokyo. The area includes a path that runs alongside the Yazawa River heading towards the Tama Rivera that runs through a valley surrounded by nature. A number of interesting places within the valley include a Japanese garden, a tea house named Setsugekka, a cafe (Cafe Valley Todoroki), Todoroki Fudoson Temple, a Buddhist temple (Chigo Daishi Miedo) and a shinto shrine (Inaridaimyojin). There are also more than six cave tombs that were discovered on the cliffs on the left bank of the valley. Some included buried human bones where preservation measures were taken. The people buried in these cave tombs are presumed to have been influential people who ruled the area around Todoroki. More information can be found in the website link below.

PLEASE NOTE:

At the time of uploading, Todoroki Valley Park is closed and not due to open until 2025. This is because a tree had fallen during a storm and blocked the path. A tree survey was conducted during this time and it was found many more trees (a total of 52) were not in good condition creating a risk that more could fall. For health and safety reasons the area remains closed. Work has begun on restoring the trees but guests can still use the Japanese garden and visit Todoroki Fudoson Temple.
