My favorite moment from this hike? Definitely minute 0:57 to 1:04 — the sun hit just right, casting a perfect silhouette of me waving, surrounded by massive peaks. That moment marked the transition from the lush, forested trails into the raw beauty of the alpine tundra. 🌄

This adventure took place in the Brainard Lake Recreation Area, tucked in the Indian Peaks Wilderness of Colorado. I started the hike near Brainard Lake, made my way past Mitchell Lake, and followed the trail through a series of smaller alpine ponds on the way to Blue Lake. But I didn’t stop there — I kept going until I reached the hidden gem that is Little Blue Lake.

Each step along the way reveals something new — from serene reflections on Brainard Lake, to jagged ridgelines towering over Blue Lake, and finally, the stark and dramatic tundra leading up to Little Blue Lake. This area is a reminder of just how diverse and breathtaking Colorado’s high-altitude landscapes can be.
